before the home side grabbed the late winner. The defeat leaves Horsham next

27-JAN-2008:
Zak attack too strong for Old Town Boys |
|
The under 12s
progressed through to the semi-finals of the Sussex County Cup after a
thrilling victory against Old town Boys. During the first half, Old Town had
the majority of the possession and soon took a well deserved lead. Horsham
fought well but found it difficult to break down the visitors' defence before
suffering a blow when then lost a key player to a nasty knee injury. During
the second half, both teams battled hard and eventually Zak Comber got his
reward for his persistence to grab the equaliser and, at 1-1, it was game on!!
With extra time looming it was end to end stuff but Stanley Rice scored a
cracking goal to give Horsham the lead for the first time and Comber had the
final say with a well worked goal, sending Horsham through to the last four
and a final scoreline of Horsham 3 Old Town Boys 1. |

Another match off as fixtures begin to pile up |
|
A Mole caused the
postponement of tonight's Ryman Youth League match at Leatherhead, the latest
in a long line of aborted fixtures that has decimated the U18s' season. The
River Mole burst its banks, causing the Tanners' pitch to flood, leaving the
Hornets without a match since 28th November. With only 7 of their scheduled 24
league matches played, Horsham face a massive backlog of games and face the
prospect of playing twice a week as the season draws towards its conclusion. |

postponement of Sunday's U12s and U14s fixtures. Withdean 2000 were unable to
provide an acceptable pitch on which to host the U16s' Sussex County Cup
quarter-final and will try again next weekend while Monday night's Ryman Youth
League match against Croydon Athletic was also called off. |

Stan's the man as youngsters cruise through to last sixteen of County Cup |
|
Stanley Rice
bagged a hat-trick as the U12s began the New Year with a convincing victory
against ASC Strikers in Sunday's County Cup 4th round tie. The young Hornets
looked rusty after going 6 weeks without a game but goals from Rice, Zak
Comber and George Hole made the halftime team talk quite calm. The game was
very one sided and Horsham added to their tally in the second half with a goal
each from Dan Kirkland and Comber with Rice netting twice more to earn his
hat-trick to leave a final scoreline of 7-0 in the Hornets' favour. Horsham
man of the match: Ben Collier. |
