The U18s were beaten 1-0 by Mile Oak in their final pre-season warm-up today at a sunny Queen Street. 13-AUG-2007: Ryman big boys make early visit to Queen Street

The opening fixtures for the new Ryman U18 Youth League were announced this week with AFC Wimbledon providing the opposition for the Hornets' first home game of the season. The Dons have an impressive youth set-up with boys and girls represented from U10 to U19 level and are sure to give Ivan Raby's side a tough baptism. Before that, though, the Hornets must travel to Carshalton Athletic for the season's opener with another familiar name, Kingstonian, the hosts on September 20th. The draw for the Sussex County Cup has also been made, pairing Horsham with Ferring. Check the fixture list for full details

13-AUG-2007: New boys make their mark as under 18s get preparations underway with a win

New signings Tony Nwachukwu and Jordon Williams wasted little time in making an impression on acting U18s manager Ivan Raby, scoring in both of the opening friendly matches. The squad began their preparations for life in the newly formed Ryman Youth League with a fine 2-0 win against Billingshurst's first team at the Jubilee Fields on Thursday but they went down in a goalfest at Arundel, three days later, losing 6-4. Next up is a trip to Crawley to take on Oakwood on Wednesday 15th August. Full reports to follow in due course
