On a red hot Sunday morning Horsham Youth travelled to Storrington for their fourth pre-season game, fielding a mixture of retained players, trialists and three lads from the Under 16 squad while Horsham 'keeper Dominic Burchell was called upon to play for the Storrington side as their own goalkeeper was injured. This gave an opportunity for Under 16s custodian Jamie Witham to play a full match for the Hornets. Horsham piled on the pressure right from the off and after only four minutes were awarded a penalty after a push in the area. George Magnus stepped up to the spot and sent Burchell the wrong way to put the Hornets one up. Despite the weather the game was played at a high tempo with both sides keeping the ball on the playing surface as much as they could and, with defences on top and Burchell on good form to deny his teammates, the score stayed at 1-0 at the break. The second half was a different story as Horsham's crisp passing and cool heads saw them take control of the game. James Callaby scored to make it 2-0 and it wasn't long before his strike partner Josh Clack added to the scoreline. As Storrington tired in the sunshine the Hornets created a number of chances before Clack added a fourth. Horsham switched off in the final minutes as The Swans looked for a consolation and Witham made three good late saves to ensure a clean sheet.
