Horsham Under 18s travelled to Worth School to play East Grinstead Youth in their fifth pre-season friendly yesterday and came away with a 6-4 victory. Short on numbers it was agreed between the managers that Tony Nwachukwu could play as an over-age player for Horsham. On a bumpy pitch, with a crooked goal at one end and the wind blowing a gale, the Hornets struggled to come to terms with the conditions in the early stages. Two goalkeeping errors led to a couple of quick goals for the hosts and a wind assisted long range effort saw them lead 3-0. Horsham continued to play their passing game and Tony Nwachukwu grabbed one back before a George Magnus penalty meant they only trailed 3-2 at the interval. With the wind now behind them the Hornets dominated the second half and created many chances and, with Patrick O'Sullivan netting a brace, another for Nwachukwu and Jamie May also getting on the score sheet Horsham raced into a 6-3 lead. As the light closed in, East Grinstead scored a late consolation in the gloomy conditions before the ref called time on the match.
