The game between Horsham U13s and Worthing Minors
proved to be a feisty League Cup fixture from start to finish.
Kicking off at a furious pace, the Horsham defence
was called in to action almost immediately with Jack Manton and Jack
Osborn rising to the challenge, as strong as always, while goalkeeper
Alex Broadley provided a safe pair of hands and was unfaltering
between the posts.
Callum Nash started the scoring with a well placed
shot but Worthing replied only to see their 'goal' ruled out for
offside. The pace continued mostly to the right hand side with
excellent challenges by Adam Ruz. Callum Vinall’s attempt to double
the score was denied when his effort hit the crossbar but only an
excellent clearing header from Jack Manton kept us 1-0 up at half
time.
Both sides came back to the pitch full of
determination and ready for the winning result but early into the
second half an assist from Harry Law ensured "Nasher" doubled the
advantage with ease.
The Worthing side was full of energy and they found
the back of the net with a well executed free kick. The challenges
continued with some excellent runs and crosses by Kieran Britland, one
in particular finding Dan Kenworthy whose powerful header beat the
Worthing goalkeeper but just glanced past the post.
With a well crafted assist by Harry Masih, Callum
Vinall used his head and scored to make it 3-1. The game concluded
with another goal for Callum Vinall to make it 4-1 at full time.
