A long awaited match was finally played against a
well drilled Sidlesham side. Seven minutes into the game the
opposition were one up and, within minutes, that was doubled with a
penalty awarded for a tugged shirt. With some brave tackles put in by
Smith, coupled with Ruz's tough defending and brave headers, this did
little to sway the attack of the Sidlesham side who found the woodwork
twice, deflecting of the top post.
With two corners from Sidlesham cleared by a
determined Britland, and brave play by Broadley, half-time ended on
0-4 to Sidelsham.
After the half time chat it seemed Horsham had
woken up from their rusty start with an action packed half, great
tackling, solid midfield from Goacher and Law and, with a goal by
Norris, maybe Horsham had come to the party. But as Ruz headed a
Sidlesham strike almost off the line, and the game drawing to a close,
a battling Horsham side accepted a defeat with a 1-4 score line.
