An away game between Hollingbury Hawks and Horsham
that had already been rescheduled due to weather and pitch conditions
was played in not dissimilar conditions to those that had seen it
cancelled the week before.
Plugging through the puddles and mud, Horsham's
Smith opened the scoring 15 minutes into the game but a reply came
quickly from Hollinbury to level the score. Just before half time a
Hollingbury own goal sent Horsham in for the break 2-1 up.
The second half started with as much ferocity and
pace as had been seen in the first half, but a goal from the
opposition levelled the score. The Hawks then found the net a third
time giving them the advantage as full time approached.
A determined final push from Horsham enabled Masih
to equalise the score in the final minutes resulting in extra time.
Despite five consecutive corners and a goal mouth frenzy for Horsham
there was nothing to split the two teams at the close of the first
half of extra time.
With penalties looking a certainty to settle the
game a late goal by the Hawks resulted in the U13 Hornets travelling
home from their Sussex Cup game defeated. Final score 4-3 to The
Hollingbury Hawks.
