The young Hornets began this Arun & Chichester
League fixture very well but spurned several opportunities to open
their account, thanks to a combination of good defending and some poor
finishing. It took a long range effort from Finn Bigg to break the
deadlock, after 20 minutes, when his shot from the right beat the
Worthing goalkeeper.
Despite creating few chances of their own, the
visitors managed to draw level before the break when Horsham failed to
clear their lines.
The second half saw the home side retake the lead
through Jack Griffiths, only for this to stir the opposition in to
action as Worthing conspired to score 3 times in 10 minutes as the
Hornets seemed to forget how to defend.
But Horsham refused to give in and Jack Reeves made
it 4-3 with only the width of the crossbar preventing Horsham from
claiming a draw.
This was another hard lesson learned for Richard
Wootton's side, with concentration clearly crucial for the whole
match.
