Well the day started badly with an early morning
call informing the manager that the Reeves brothers were sick and,
already taking two debutants to the game, it meant throwing them into
the deep end.
Rustington started fast and it was only some good
defending and some luck that Horsham kept the ball out of the net.
After this, and a little rearranging within the side, Horsham found
their pace and some good football led to C Belton getting his first of
the season, and what a finish ! Finn Bigg opened his account shortly
after this, after using his pace to leave the defenders in his wake.
Horsham continued to push on after the break, with
N Bristow taking on the forward role extremely well and earned his
side two corners in quick succession. The ball was cleared from the
first and ended up at the feet of A Kerr, on the edge of the box, and
he lofted it back over the Rustington goalkeeper.
The fourth goal came from corner which was met at
full pace by H Cowan with a glancing header across the goal. This was
some header !
This seem to awaken Rustington who attacked time and time again and
were rewarded for their persistence by two goals in as many minutes.
The Horsham team deserved their three points,
considering they were without two key players. This does show the
strength and depth of our squad this year. Well done lads.
