The first round of the County cup saw Horsham drawn away
to Seagulls FC. Horsham started brightly, enjoying the
majority of possession but with Seagulls initially
closing down play well. But it was in the 5th minute,
following a delightful cross from George Hole on the
left, that saw Jake Legrange rise unopposed in the area
to head past the Seagulls 'keeper. The second Horsham
goal was scored by Tom Killner-Brown following some neat
play and pressure by Horsham. From this stage it looked
as though Horsham were going to dominate but Seagulls
pushed forward and, when the Horsham defence failed to
clear the ball, the Seagull forward was allowed to play
the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Aldridge and into
the Horsham net.

Second half saw some changes with Comber going into
midfield in place of Smith and Clarke in defence for
Waller. But after some sustained pressure Legrange made
an opening in the penalty area and unselfishly laid off
an easy chance for Killner-Brown to take his second.
Again Seagulls did not give up and, following a fine
shot which brought out a save from Aldridge, the
clearance fell to a Seagulls forward who was not closed
down quickly enough and he picked his spot making it 3 -
2.
Horsham then began to raise the tempo of the game and
again had majority of the possession and pressure and
when Legrange was fouled in the area on 70 minutes,
Killner-Brown stepped up confidently to score his third
from the spot. Just two minutes later, the best move of
the match saw Horsham work the ball from back to front
involving Garman, Collier and Rice before a low driven
cross into the Seagulls area which a home defender slid
to clear but unfortunately put past his stranded
'keeper.
