Horsham
U16s welcomed Hawks Youth to Southwater Village Centre for what
turned out to be a keenly contested league match. Horsham began
well, when great interplay between Zak Comber and Jake Legrange
led to an early chance. The home team kept up the pressure with
Ollie Clarke making a clever run down the right flank. Horsham
continued to press hard and enjoyed much of the possession but
the Hawks defence remained firm.
Alex
Parsons found himself in space on 28 minutes, only to see his
strike hit the woodwork, but the young Hornets finally broke
through on 30 minutes when Comber struck home following an
excellent passing movement down the left hand side involving
Harry Garman and George Hole. The Hawks' only break of the half
provoked an excellent save from Albie Aldridge, low down to his
left hand post.

The second
half saw Hawks come out much stronger and they began to
pressurise the young Hornets. However Horsham kept their heads
and battled back and it wasn’t long before a corner from Hole
saw Anthony Jupp power a cracking header that just went wide of
the target.#
Horsham
notched up their second when Stanley Rice provided a delightful
through ball to Comber who nonchalantly tapped the ball in the
back of the net. Horsham continued to challenge the Hawks’
defence and claimed their 3rd goal when a Clarke corner was
powered home by a fine 10 yard header from the ever impressive
Greg Gander.
Hawks
bravely battled on but a foul on Alex Parsons saw Horsham
awarded a penalty that was confidently struck home by Zac Comber
to complete his hat-trick and Horsham’s 4th. The result was
sealed when Lewis Blaney rose magnificently to head home a good
delivery from a corner.
