31-OCT-2008: Horsham in showdown with landlords

Horsham won't have to travel far to begin their Ryman League Cup campaign after being handed an 'away' fixture with Worthing in today's draw. The 2nd round tie, a first competitive meeting between Horsham and their current landlords since April 2007, will take place at Woodside Road on Tuesday 2nd December, kick-off 7.45pm.

30-OCT-2008: Horsham v Cray Wanderers: FA TROPHY PREVIEW

29-OCT-2008: Horsham 1 Stevenage Borough 4

Horsham's FA Cup dream is over for another season after Stevenage Borough scored 4 times in the final 17 minutes to secure a rather flattering victory that, for so long, looked unlikely. Lee Carney's superbly struck 33rd minute opener gave the Hornets a deserved lead at the break and they looked comfortable against their Blue Square Premier opponents, despite surrendering the bulk of the second half possession, until 2 goals in less than a minute swung the tie in the visitors' favour. Daryl McMahon scored the first on 73 minutes, crashing home a shot from the edge of the box, before dispossessing Jacob Mingle from the restart and crossing for Calum Willock to head home at the far post. Stevenage's superior fitness was to prove decisive and although John Maggs' side battled gamely, with Mark Knee once again outstanding, they scored twice more in injury time through Steve Morison and Willock to secure the money-spinning trip to Leicester City in the First Round. 29-OCT-2008: Horsham v Stevenage Borough: MATCH PREVIEW

Horsham face Stevenage Borough this evening with arguably the biggest prize in their history at stake. An FA Cup First Round tie at Leicester City, four times finalists and a Premiership side just 5 seasons ago, awaits the winner after the two sides fought out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Broadhall Way at the weekend.

29-OCT-2008: Sussex Senior Cup news

Horsham will host either Lancing or Three Bridges in the Third Round of the Sussex Senior Cup. The two sides go head to head at Lancing's Culver Road ground on 13th November for a place in the last 16 of the county's premier cup competition. No date has yet been set for the Woodside Road tie.

24-OCT-2008: Maggs strengthens defence with new arrival

Horsham's hopes of upsetting the odds in tomorrow's FA Cup tie received a massive boost today with the arrival of highly rated Cardiff City starlet Anthony Acheampong. The 18 year old, 6'2" centre-half has joined the club on a non-contract basis and will go straight in to the side to face Stevenage Borough after receiving international clearance from the FAW. Acheampong was among those short-listed for last season's Wickes Young Apprentice Trophy before joining Aldershot Town after being surprisingly released by the Bluebirds during the Summer.

23-OCT-2008: Stevenage Borough v Horsham: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round preview

22-OCT-2008: Chalk another one up for Evan !

Evan Archibald moves on to 8 goals for the season after it was confirmed that the former Eastbourne Borough striker got the final touch to Alex Haddow's goalbound effort against Sittingbourne last weekend. Club secretary John Lines revealed "I was tapped by Evan this evening who says he touched in our first on Sunday from Alex's shot. He said Alex is happy that he gets the goal."

22-OCT-2008: Lee joins the 300 club

It might not have been his most memorable afternoon in a Horsham shirt but, for Lee Carney, Sunday's FA Trophy tie with Sittingbourne marked a major milestone with his 300th appearance for the Hornets. The 25 year old midfielder lasted just 50 minutes before limping out of the game with a groin injury but it was enough to enable him to join a select band of players to have reached the triple hundred mark in the green and yellow jersey, including current team-mates Eddie French and Gary Charman. Congratulations Lee !

21-OCT-2008: Cray secure FA Trophy visit

A single goal from Scott Kinch was enough to earn Cray Wanderers victory over Tilbury in tonight's FA Trophy 2nd Qualifying round replay to earn the Kent club a trip to Woodside Road on Saturday, November 1st. Elsewhere, there were defeats for Ashford Town (Mx), Canvey Island and AFC Hornchurch, whose exit at the hands of league rivals Maidstone United means there are just 10 Ryman Premier Division sides through to the 3rd Qualifying Round.

21-OCT-2008: Ringmer 1 Horsham 2

Two goals from the in-form Lee Farrell secured Horsham a passage in to the 3rd round of the Sussex Senior Cup with a narrow victory over battling Ringmer tonight. The County Leaguers stunned the Hornets by taking a 9th minute lead through Aaron MacMillan but the goalscorer went from hero to villain after the break when he was fouled by Tom Graves in the penalty area only to put his shot wide from 12 yards. Horsham took control of the game after that and Tony Nwachukwu missed an open goal before crossing for Farrell to equalise from 6 yards and, after Gary Charman had seen his header hit the post, Farrell collected a poor goal-kick to claim the winning goal in the 87th minute.

21-OCT-2008: Ringmer v Horsham: Sussex Senior Cup preview

Gary Charman will continue his rehabilitation with a place in the starting XI for tonight's Sussex Senior Cup tie at Ringmer (kick-off 7.15pm). Horsham's current longest serving player looked lively after coming on as a second half substitute in Sunday's FA Trophy win over Sittingbourne and John Maggs will be hoping to get an extended run from the pacy winger ahead of Saturday's trip to Stevenage Borough.

2O-OCT-2008: Player news

With injuries continuing to take their toll on the squad, John Maggs moved today to bring Tom Graves back to the club on a month's loan. The versatile Graves played in defence, midfield and up front for the Hornets in a career that spanned almost 5 years and over 200 club appearances before opting to join Conference new-boys Lewes during the summer. Meanwhile, Maggs remains confident of landing a Ryman League defender despite missing out on Glen Woodburn who opted to join Worthing last week.

20-OCT-2008: FA Trophy 2nd Qualifying Round draw

Horsham will host Ryman Division One opponents for the second time in this season's FA Trophy competition after being handed a home tie against either Tilbury or Cray Wanderers. The two sides drew 1-1 at the Dockers' St Chad's Road ground at the weekend and will replay at Hayes Lane tomorrow night. The 2nd Qualifying Round tie will take place at Woodside Road on Saturday, 1st November (kick-off 3pm).

18-OCT-2008: Horsham 4 Sittingbourne 2: MATCH REPORT

Horsham were given a scare by Ryman Division One Sittingbourne before securing their passage in to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy this afternoon. The Brickies scored twice in two minutes, midway through the first half, through Tom Bradbrook and Richard Brady but Alex Haddow's goal gave the home side hope of turning the game around and they did just that when Jean-Michel Sigere's volley put them back on level terms on the stroke of half-time. Gary Charman replaced Lee Carney for the second half and he was involved in Horsham's 3rd goal, converted by Lee Farrell, before teenager Tony Nwachukwu delighted the home crowd by celebrating his injury time debut goal with an acrobatic triple somersault. 15-OCT-2008: Horsham 3 Maidstone United 1: MATCH REPORT

Horsham upset the form book tonight with a deserved win against Maidstone United that brought the Hornets a first league win in 8 attempts and a first away defeat of the season for the Stones. Evan Archibald gave the hosts the perfect start, tapping home Lee Carey's 12th minute corner at the far post, and Mark Knee doubled the advantage on 26 minutes when he converted a fine pass from Alex Haddow. Former Arsenal midfielder Ian Selley quickly reduced the arrears from the spot, after Paul Seuke had upended James Pinnock, but Lee Farrell made sure of the victory 20 minutes from time after an error from Maidstone 'keeper Andy Walker. 14-OCT-2008: Horsham v Maidstone United: MATCH PREVIEW

13-OCT-2008: FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round draw

John Maggs believes his side has every chance of reaching the First Round of the FA Cup (sponsored by E.on) for a second successive season, despite being given a tough tie against one of non-league football's biggest names. The Hornets must travel to Broadhall Way, home to Graham Westley's Stevenage Borough, winners of the 2007 FA Trophy Final and who, in season 1995/6, were denied promotion to the Football League only after their ground failed to meet with the necessary requirements. 09-OCT-2008: Howie the Hornet...........the best mascot in the Ryman League !!

Howie the Hornet did the club proud once again, performing well to finish in 7th place out of 67 runners in last weekend's Mascot Grand National in appalling conditions at Huntingdon Racecourse. Now claiming to officially be the best mascot in Sussex and the Ryman League (and who are we to argue ?), you can read Howie's thoughts on the race here

09-OCT-2008: Horsham v Paulton Rovers: FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round preview

09-OCT-2008: Siggy's back !!!

The club is delighted to announce the signing of former France U21 international Jean Michel-Sigere from Eastbourne Borough. 05-OCT-2008: Cup opponents decided

Horsham's FA Trophy and Sussex Senior Cup opponents were decided this weekend with Ringmer's 4-0 victory over Pagham giving the Hornets a trip to the Caburn on Tuesday 21st October but no date has yet been announced for the Trophy visit of Sittingbourne, 2-1 conquerors of Leatherhead yesterday, with landlords Worthing also facing an FA Trophy 1st Qualifying round tie at Woodside Road on the same weekend (18/19 October).

04-OCT-2008: Tonbridge Angels 4 Horsham 0

John Maggs slammed his players after an 'embarrassing' display at Tonbridge this afternoon that saw them fall to their second 4-0 defeat in four games, extending their winless league run to seven matches. Former Horsham striker Carl Rook scored a hat-trick in the opening half hour and Jamie Cade completed the scoring with a 76th minute header while Horsham's best chance fell to Lee Carey whose dipping volley was tipped over the bar by Angels' goalkeeper Lee Worgan. The one bright spot for the visitors was the return to action of Lee Carney who, after replacing Andy Howard on 34 minutes, was arguably Horsham's best player until he was withdrawn late on after aggravating his foot injury to leave the side to play out the closing stages with just 10 men.

02-OCT-2008: Tonbridge Angels v Horsham: MATCH PREVIEW

Horsham will be hoping that Saturday's visit to Tonbridge Angels will bring an end to their barren league run at what is becoming something of a lucky ground for John Maggs' side. The Hornets have won on each of their 3 previous visits to the Longmead Stadium and have generally enjoyed the upper hand against the Kent club with 5 wins from 6 meetings since the Angels' return to the Ryman Premier Division in 2005.
