Farewell Tony |
|
The
Hornets get their pre-season programme underway tomorrow with
a trip to Burgess Hill but they do so without teenage winger
Tony Nwachukwu who has been released by the club at his own
request. The popular forward broke into the first team during
2008/9 after a string of impressive displays for the U18s but
was unable to hold down a regular place in the side. "Tony
came to me and asked for certain guarantees but, with finances
tight and the quality that we have in midfield at the moment,
I told him that I can't give him that," revealed John Maggs.
"I had a long chat with him at training last night and offered
him a compromise, basically getting him dual signed with the
offer of better money for whenever he turns out for us but he
wasn't keen on the idea and asked to be released. I know he's
being talking to a number of clubs so I wish him well in the
future and will say to him that the door's certainly not
closed to him at Horsham Football Club!" Another player
on his way out is defender James Nicholls whose registration
has not been retained by the club.
