Langton offered no excuses for yesterday's defeat at Harrow
Borough, with the hosts' sharpness in the final third proving
the difference between the two sides. Horsham have failed to
record a victory at the Reds' Earslmead Stadium in more than
4 decades but Langton's squad travelled with high hopes of ending
that miserable run, and recording their first league victory
since August, after recent good performances against Lewes,
Lowestoft Town and Wealdstone. But the writing was on the wall
from the moment Danny Buckle put the home side ahead on 28 minutes
and there was no way back for the Hornets once Tristan Toney
scored their second, 5 minutes into the second half.
"It
was a drab game," admitted Hugo "with not a lot of
quality from either side. The statistics show that both teams
had equal amount of possession in the other's half but they
were a little bit cleverer than us at times, particularly up
front. I was disappointed that we didn't execute our game plan
at all and we lacked a lot of quality in the final third but
I'm not going to have a go at the boys who have been excellent
lately.
Both
goals were sloppy. We didn't clear the ball properly for their
first and we just seemed to stand still for their second. Fair
play to their centre-forward who took a gamble and got his reward
but it wasn't a good goal from our perspective. We just weren't
at the races and the players will be the first to tell you how
disappointed they were in their performance but I'm prepared
to put it down to a bad day in the office and will look for
them to give me a response next week. Good luck to Harrow, though.
They're a good club with a nice manager and I wish them all
the best for the rest of the season.
