Chichester City 3 Horsham 2 (after extra-time) |
|
Ian
Payne's long wait for a Horsham goal was finally ended last night
but so was our interest in the Brighton Charity Cup as a
makeshift Hornets side went down 3-2 at County League leaders
Chichester City. The veteran defender ended a barren run of
116 appearances without a goal by scoring from the penalty spot,
after Tony Nwachukwu's initial effort was ordered to be
retaken, to give the Hornets a 2-1 advantage after Robert Kasanga
had earlier cancelled out James Archer's 9th minute
opener for the hosts. Jack James levelled the tie up, just
before half-time, but there was no further scoring until Ben
Vassallo claimed the winning goal in extra-time. Horsham can
have few complaints, and arguably few concerns, about this
result after Chichester dominated much of the proceedings,
hitting the crossbar twice and having a seemingly good goal
disallowed. Peter Kersley provides a full report
