Horsham’s attack could have a new, if rather familiar,
look to it for tomorrow’s visit of Aveley with the
return to the club of striker Dan Morris.
Morris joined Horsham during the summer and followed up
his 3 pre-season goals by scoring in the opening day
defeat to Bury Town. Two further strikes followed
against Kingstonian and Carshalton but a disagreement
with previous manager Justin Luchford saw him join
divisional rivals Metropolitan Police before moving on
to Walton & Hersham, from whom he re-joined the Hornets
today. "I’m delighted that Dan’s come back to us,"
admitted Hugo Langton. "We’ve been struggling in front
of goal and we’re hoping that he can help us out in that
department. He is also a very popular presence in the
dressing room and, I’m sure, will fit straight back in
with the rest of the lads. We want him here for the long
term and he’s told me he wants to play 100 games for us,
not half a dozen, which is fantastic to hear."
Meanwhile, Ryan Woodford’s return to action looks set to
be delayed until the latter stages of the season after
Hugo revealed the midfielder’s recovery is taking longer
than expected. "You know Woody, he’d play on Saturday if
we let him, but his progress hasn’t been as quick as
we’d have hoped so I don’t think we’ll see him back
until April. It’s vitally important that we don’t rush
him back because we want him fully fit for next season
but it’s frustrating for everyone, especially Woody
because he’s desperate to come back in and help but we
have to consider his long term health. Hopefully,
weather permitting, he’ll be at the game on Saturday to
give the lads a bit of a lift."
Hugo also confirmed the addition of former East
Grinstead boss Tony Beckingham to his management team.
“I’ve known Tony for some time. He’s a good friend who
has a good knowledge of Sussex football and is not
involved with a club at the moment so I feel that it’s a
waste of his talent for him to be sat at home on a
Saturday afternoon!” |
