Date: Sunday 27th August 2006 Venue:
Broadbridge Heath Cricket Club The occasion: The annual HISC cricket
match
"I think everybody from both teams enjoyed the afternoons cricket. We
basically carried on where Sussex had finished last night, except we
lost, or rather we didn't give young Braveheart Junior the back up he
deserved. Moody tried his best, remaining not out, in a good last wicket
stand with B.H.G. until he was caught having clobbered the ball all
round the ground for a stupendous 87 runs. When he took to the field,
his bowling also earned him a couple of wickets - one an excellent
caught & bowled.
You might wonder what the rest of the team did. Well Nev bowled superbly
at the back end of the innings, taking a hat-trick which set up an
exciting finish. At the start of the innings, Moody opened the bowling,
left arm round the wicket, showing good control with line & length. Not
bad as he had just had his Sunday roast lunch. "Barman" Howard Frogley
top scored for the opposition having survived a dropped catch behind the
wicket.
Junior McNulty umpired throughout the match & deserves a pat on the back
for his efforts, under immense pressure from the fielders on both sides.
Mrs MACROSTH played her part by scoring for both teams, her job made
more difficult by not knowing many of the players names.
Our total was 122 & Howard's lot made 123 for 8.
Rob Frankland, trying to atone for his first ball dismissal, made one
fantastic leap while fielding but, instead of making what would have
been a brilliant catch, only succeeded in finger tipping it over the bar
for four runs! (Hope the green stain comes off those trousers)
I would like to add my thanks to the people who made it all possible &
for the tea provided between innings."

"Just a message to say thank you for today guys, thoroughly enjoyed
myself."
"It was a great afternoon played in a great spirit. Got to practice the
bowling a bit. Thanks to Howard et al for sorting the venue and
everything else - including the kit! Definitely want to do it again some
time."
"What a gripping afternoons cricket!! The hat-trick ball is in pride of
place on my fire-place! Bring on the re-match.
I also though the sledging was top quality and we definitely had them
rattled" |
