Horsham Youth eased into the second round of the Sussex Pro-Secure Dennis Probee Youth Cup with a 6-0 victory of Ferring Youth at Queen Street. The visitors, who play in the Arun & Chichester Under 18 League, were immediately under pressure from the the first whistle as the Hornets controlled possession with plenty more space to exploit than they had been used to in recent Ryman Youth games. Ferring worked hard to try to close down but could not cope with the pace coming down the flanks. Horsham created chance after chance but failed to make the breakthrough as opportunities were wasted by unrealistic shots and a failure to make a simple final pass to an unmarked team-mate. Ten minutes before the break Horsham finally took the lead following in a corner which central defender Adam Hutchings headed home and the teams went in with the Hornets holding a 1-0 lead.

Instructions were given at half time as to how play had to improve in the opponents' box and that goalscoring chances needed to be taken and, within three minutes of the restart, the scoreline was doubled thanks to Matt Whiteford. Horsham continued to control the game and, nine minutes later, Whiteford made a great run into the box and tucked away his second goal. Pat Surlis made it 4-0 with a well taken goal and it was Surlis who, provided Elliot Hawkes with a nice cut back for number five. The rout was completed in the final minutes when Dean Wright who was through on goal with just the goalkeeper to beat, unselfishly passed to Hawkes to finish into the empty net.

Horsham now play host to another Arun and Chichester Team, Brove United Youth, in round two on Sunday 21st October
