The last game of the season for Matt Bulley’s unbeaten under 14s saw them able to field 11 men only against Fishergate Flyers and, with the Flyers battling Rustington for 3rd place in the league, the match was important to both sides.

Fishergate got the dream start when they took an early lead when the pace of their striker saw him break down the Horsham right and cross the ball for an easy finish. Horsham almost levelled a minute later when Louis Masih’s shoot was steered wide by a defender.

The next 10 minutes saw a period of open play before Fishergate again broke down the left and the resulting shot, from the edge of the area, found the back of the net. On 16 minutes George Borer was called on to make a fine save from a long range shot to keep Horsham in the game. The last 15 minutes of the half saw the young Hornets start to come to grips with the new line-up and, with 9 minutes of the half to go, they pulled one back when Josh Clack coolly slotted home over the advancing 'keeper.

Still trailing by one goal, Horsham came out looking much better at the start of the second half and the scores were levelled 10 minutes in when Marcus Collier rounded 2 players before the Flyers 'keeper fumbled his shot between his legs.

With time running out, Horsham looked the stronger side with Masih hitting the crossbar then the post and finally the 'keeper's feet before the young Hornets were awarded a free kick just outside the area. David O’Callaghan’s superb free kick left the 'keeper stranded and finally put Horsham into the lead. With seconds to go, Masih was again denied when his shot went just over the crossbar.

The team should feel proud of themselves after keeping their heads and digging deep to battle back from 0–2 to keep the side's 100% record in all competitions intact.
